老师好,请教一句句子的语法.

Because they destroy so many insects, and insects include some of the greatest enemies of the human race．Insects would make it impoossible for us to live in the world; they would devour all our crops and kill our flocks and herds, if it were not for the protection we get from insect-eating animals．
在其中,"Insects would make it" 是过去将来一般时态吗?如果是,它并没有一个主句指出它是处于过去的状态啊.比如说Yesterday,he said that he would study English. 在此句中,would 有一个主句的谓语said指出它处在过去状态.
或是"would"表达的意思是“将会”,但是句子是一般现在时态,为什么不用“will”?
比如说这句“Parents involvement in their childrens education is different and that would affect what thestudents learn.”

注意【】内的内容,是一个表示与现在情况相反的虚拟语气,所以主句要用助动词表示虚拟含义的将来,也就是would
再问：那这一句呢？“Parents involvement in their childrens education is different and that would affect what thestudents learn.”
再答： would 表示不确定的将来
再问： will 不是也能表将来吗？为什么不用will呢？
再答：语气，would比will语气若，只有将来含义，但不一定会发生
