Of course not,but I think it's incredibly hypocritical to say that professionals only reveal merits of technology.It's true that many researchers may not have a clear understanding of the dangers of their inventions (e.g.Nobel,Einstein,etc.),but I don't honestly think that those who realize the dangers of their research hides it,or indeed are able to hide it.You have to realize that any given research topic is simultaneously studied by numerous labs around the world,and there is no global conspiracy to hide the truth from the rest of humanity.Despite popular belief,scientists aren't a separate species.

The phrase knowledge is power has never been truer than in the technologically-advanced,technogically-dependent modern society,.Scientists and engineers often hold knowledge beyond the public level of understanding,thus it's fair to say that in some respects,they may be the most powerful people on earth.With great power comes great responsibility.When the average person cannot even understand the level of science these professionals practice,it is difficult to monitor the reliability of some professionals in their respective industries.However,science does have its side-effects.Sometimes unforeseeable,as with the discovery of TNT,some ignored,as with the study of nuclear energy and the making of the atomic bomb.As technology develops,so does the side-effects of science,thus it is critical that professionals in all industries reveal possible harmful effects of their research,so that the rest of humanity does not suffer for their curiousity.
