刚才有一道问题,

本来是选a的,很快看到了关于b的分析,觉得也不无道理.
不过仔细想一下,关于b的分析基本上是基于词义的 - 同义词转换.认为Earnings 与 profits 意义相近.
语言除了词义以外,还有语境和通常用法.
一般情况下,如果说something is built with___,通常的用法是 profits,次之则是benefits.
benefit这个词从词义上说是profit的同义词.都是不计较有没有付出,就是earn的过程的一种收益.所以从语境和通常用法上说,这两个词在大多数作为名词的情况下都可以互换.所以名词的复数profits与benefits在大多数情况下也完全可以互换.
也可以接 earnings,但是earnings 并非单独出现,通常是有限定的出现.因为"Earnings”本身就是一个复数名词 plural noun,是可以单独以复数形式出现的名词,本意是工作收入,the amount of money that someone is paid for the work they do (Cambridge Advanced Learner's Dictionary）出现在something is built with__后面时,一般会说明一下该earnings是怎么样的“工作收入”.比如
Built with earnings + that 引导的从句
Built with earnings + from 引导的短语
Built with earnings + of somebody
很少有built with + earnings然后直接+ full stop /comma 句号/逗号的
（当然,不是说profits,benefits 后不加限定,也可以加,实际用法中benefits加限定的情况相对profits多）
